Power 105.1 / 105 Days of Summer

The Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence project created in 2011, is an innovative multi-faceted approach that educates and trains students and young adults on how to be proactive to end gun and gang violence in their school and community. 88 citizens die daily in the U.S. from firearms (8 are children and teens under 20). The project believes the key to reducing gun and gang violence is earning the trust and respect of those most responsible and smart community policing. There are 33,000 gangs nationwide representing 1.4 million members who commit 48% of the country’s most violent crimes. Our innovative “Public Health Approach” uses a host of initiatives which include Community Ambassadors for Peace (CAP); Rap 2 Bridge the Gap; Time 2 Shine; Solution Summits; 7 E’s 4 Power, and 105 Days of Summer. Additional activities include: films; trips; Celebrity PSAs; prize give-a-ways; tickets to sports and entertainment events; Petition Drives; and an Essay Contest.

The annual Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Week campaign kicks off 105 events over 105-days with Power 105.1 Radio through the 105 Days of Summer initiative. Activities start a week prior to Memorial Day Weekend and end Labor Day Weekend. The holidays represent the unofficial start and end of summer, a period when gun violence spikes and citizens are in fear for their lives. In addition, the campaign is supported by Power 105.1,“The People’s Shark” Daymond John, NYPD, RCA Records, NYCHA, C-COP and a host of other partners. The project works with celebrities, students, community and business leaders, clergy, gang leaders, seniors and formerly incarcerated citizens to end the violence.

Hip-Hop Against Heroin Addiction (HAHA)

The Heroin & Opioid Epidemic is taking the country by storm as we continue to lose the War on Drugs. There were 70,237 drug overdose deaths in 2017 (47,600 or 67.8% were opioid-related), compared to 64,000 in 2016 and over 52,404 in 2015. To win the Drug War we will take a new innovative 21st-century approach and use celebrities and the media to deliver a message focused on Prevention, Education and Awareness (PEA). Participants of HAHA will be taught the dangers of Opiate & Heroin Use; Substance Abuse; and the consequences of possessing and/or selling illegal drugs. Celebrities will produce a series of PSAs, Visit Schools, Host Summits and support a marketing campaign with a focus on using social media, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Apps, etc. to promote the initiative.

We will work with elected officials, corporations and community groups to find resources, as well as support legislation to address the Heroin Crisis. Concert, Film & Sports Event Tickets, Sneakers, Smartphones, Gift Cards, Computers, Meet & Greet Sessions with Celebrities and other Perks will be offered to winners of our Essay Contest; participants who live a drug-free life; and citizens who join the movement to help us end the Heroin Crisis.

Hip-Hop Against Sexual Abuse of Women (HASAW)

The project was created to help boys and men better understand the importance of Respecting, Protecting and not Neglecting Women. We will address the widespread natur behavior, especially in music and film, which impact how women are viewed and treated. Violence against women is a global crisis. In the U.S. nearly 3 women are killed every day and 50 are murdered by gun violence each month each by an intimate partner. Women between the ages of 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault.

We must take a “Public Health” approach to find real solutions to the problem. To support our work the project will work with a host of initiatives including: “#MeToo” and “TIME’S UP”. It is important that we partner with a host of initiatives and use them, along with Hip-Hop, as a platform to educate students, youth and young adults about the dangers of sexual abuse and the rights of women. Our goal is to be a voice here in the U.S. and abroad, for girls and women that have no outlet to convey their issues or report their complaints. Through this project and the help of celebrities, we will reach out to courageous women and see how we can use their stories to collaborate on projects that address the safety, equality, and rights of women.

Hip-Hop For Better Health

The Hip-Hop 4 Better Health Program is proud to announce the launch of E.D.S. (Exercise Diet & Spirituality). This new groundbreaking Holistic Health initiative was created by The “Fitness Sheriff” to help young citizens better understand how to use Exercise, Diet and Spirituality to Lose Weight and Stay in Shape, Connect to a Higher Power, Avoid Mental Illness, Prevent Sickness & Diseases, Reduce Healthcare Cost and Live a Positive Drug Free Lifestyle. Through workshops, seminars, conferences, online activities, social media, videos, reports, legislative policies and consultation we will show you why “Your Wealth is Your Health” and the steps you can take to live a Healthy, Stress-Free, Productive Life.

To accomplish this monumental task we must envision our “Health Journey” as a marathon and not a sprint. The focus must be on: Eating the Right Foods, a Balanced Diet, and researching what you put in your body; The Benefits of Vitamins, Minerals & Nutrients; Fasting & Cleansing; Herbs, Teas & Spices; Sleep; Water Power; Friendships & Associations; Lifestyle Choices; Spiritual Enlightenment; and Substance Abuse Prevention. Each is key to achieve good health because through “Preventive Healthcare” we can help participants live a long, strong and productive life. We have also launched the “Hate The Weight” campaign is schools nationwide.

Time 2 Shine

Young citizens today have talent but don’t have the contacts or resources to showcase their skills to the “Movers & Shakers” in the industry. They need help to market their talent and build their business. This initiative prepares participants for the challenges they will encounter by building confidence, augmenting skills and engaging in a hands-on approach that will help open doors for those who normally would not have a chance in a very competitive industry. Individuals will receive valuable training through talent showcases, rehearsals, and workshops conducted by professionals who offer a host of services to help participants with their growth and development.

Participants will learn about marketing, social media, touring, merchandising, endorsements, accounting, legal, production, management, security, internships, career opportunities, demo & recording contracts, and how to start their own company. In addition, our 50 Lit Hip-Hop Books will be used to promote the importance of reading, while also providing the “Secrets of Success” to our participants from some of the top artists in the world, including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Chis Brown, Nas, Alicia Keys, 50 Cent, Kanye West and many more.

Boys and Young Men of Color (BYMC)

Our mission is to partner with schools and organizations serving Boys and Young Men of color and provide mentoring, scholarships, grants, awards, consultation, social services, cultural activities, prizes, sports and entertainment events. This will help them graduate from school, pursue higher education, obtain meaningful employment, find their Higher Power, start their own business, perform their civic duty, prevent substance abuse, focus on good health, achieve their personal goals, and stay off the welfare rolls and out of the criminal justice system. We created this program to address Poverty and Illiteracy, the “Root Cause” we attribute to Gun and Gang Violence, Academic Failure, Substance Abuse, Unemployment, Poor Health, STD’s, Crime, Violence and Incarceration.

Our VISION is to use the: economic power of corporate America by partnering with “The People’s Shark” Daymond John and his “Daymond On Demand” initiative; influence of celebrities and the clergy; and political clout of our elected officials to move poor and disadvantaged youth and young adults into the middle class by preparing them with the tools and mentors to become successful citizens.

Read 2 Succeed Through Hip-Hop

Through our Curriculum, Essay Contest and Hip-Hop Books, featuring some of the biggest stars in the world including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Usher, Dr. Dre, Diddy, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Ice Cube, Pharrell Williams, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, T.I. Eminem, and Will Smith we will help participants improve their literacy skills and graduate from school to achieve their academic, business and personal goals.

Education is the Gateway to Success and when 1.2 million students drop out of school annually, we know that some will be living a life of crime. There will be prizes awarded for academic success including cash, scholarships, grants, tickets to concerts and sports events, internships, apparel, Sneakers, iPods, televisions, cell phones, videogames, computers, meet and greet opportunities with celebrities, demo recording contracts, employment and economic opportunities, and much more! Certificates will be issued to those that successfully complete the program.

Hip-Hop Education and Performing Arts Center (HE-PAC)

The Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council (HHSYC) continues its work to empower young citizens and to further our efforts we are building the Hip-Hop Education & Performing Arts Center (HE-PAC). The center offers participants a chance to pursue a career in Film, Music, Dance, Martial Arts, Coding, Website Design/Hosting and Computer & Digital Technology. Activities, classes, and events will be offered to students, local residents and military families looking for training, internships and employment. HE-PAC participants will also be rewarded for academic success and community service achievements via scholarships, grants, internships, jobs, concert, and sports tickets, and other prizes through our partnerships with Power 105.1, and “The People’s Shark” Daymond John.

The facility will house a 400 seat Theater with a Lobby and Atrium; Talent Dressing Rooms; Banquet Hall; Film Studio; State-of-the-Art Film Editing Room; Two State-of-the-Art Recording Studios; 10 offices; Social Media Center; Two Class Rooms; Computer & Digital Technology Lab; Fitness Gym; a Dance and Karate Studio. HE-PAC will host conferences, workshops and special events to address issues which include: Gun & Gang Violence; Boys & Young Men of Color; Sexual Abuse Against Women & Women’s Rights; Police/Community Relations; Employment & Entrepreneurship; Literacy; Substance Abuse; Healthcare; Voter Registration; Cultural & Spiritual Empowerment; and Criminal Justice Reform. To address these issues we will use our 7 E’S 4 Power initiative that includes: Education; Employment; Entrepreneurship; Economic Development; Entertainment; Equality; and Empowerment.
